We’re delighted to announce that the Esmée Fairbairn Foundation have awarded Khulisa a significant, 6-figure grant over three years, helping us to support 1,000 young people a year by 2021 and to expand our influence on policy and practice in the UK.
The Esmée Fairbairn Foundation joins a small portfolio of expert trusts and foundations who are committed to helping Khulisa ensure that young people at risk of exclusion and offending can understand and tackle the root-causes of their disruptive or harmful behaviour.
"We're delighted to have this support from the Esmée Fairbairn Foundation, it's a great vote of confidence in our approach and our potential to really make some waves over the next 3 years. We're also delighted to have the team at Esmée as our partners in this journey, their reputation (based on their extensive knowledge and expertise) is so valuable for us during this period of growth and expansion." - Dominique Airey, Khulisa's Chief Executive
Over the next three years, the Esmée Fairbairn Foundation’s grant will support us to scale our direct delivery, reaching 1,000 young people a year with a renewed focus on providing longer-term support and more collaborative models of delivery.
The funding will also help us to make a difference at a system level in the UK. Over the next three years, we will be increasingly focused on influencing policy and practice through a mixture of professional training and campaigning work. We want to see policies and practice more effectively meeting the emotional needs of young people at risk of exclusion and offending. We want to make the case for a wider adoption of restorative and trauma-informed approaches and to see these approaches being implemented in schools, prisons and community centres throughout the UK.
If you’d like to find out more about our partnership with the Esmée Fairbairn Foundation, or about Khulisa’s work more generally, please contact Cara Cinnamon, cara@khulisa.co.uk.
Given our rapid expansion and ambitious plans for the future, we are also looking for a new Development Manager to join our team. Please visit the ‘Work for Us‘ page of our website for more details. The closing date is 14th June.
