It was a fantastic evening, held at the very swanky Ritz Hotel and Restaurant in Mayfair (who generously covered all the costs for the event). We were delighted to be joined by an array of guests and supporters, including Lord Archer and Rushanara Ali and were thrilled to have raised over £20,000 towards Khulisa’s work.
The evening began with Khulisa’s Programme Director, Lisa Rowles, taking the guests through an ice-breaker, demonstrating that developing self-awareness is incredibly powerful and sits behind our ethos, underpins our methodologies, informs our values and points to a strong evidence base of why it works.
Shortly after, Simon Fulford, the Chief Executive at Khulisa, welcomed the group just after 7pm and thanked the Ritz for their exceptional hospitality. He also welcomed guests of honour, Lord Archer and Rushanara Ali, as well as angel investors, Mark Woodruff and the Monument Trust. Another VIP guest was Lesley Ann Van Selm, Khulisa’s founder; mother, supporter, encourager, inspirer and heartbeat. Her vision has quite literally impacted the lives of millions from its inception nearly two decades ago in a post-apartheid South Africa, to a now very complex UK.
