Khulisa’s Summer Sawubona

Over 50 members of Khulisa’s wider network, consisting of funders, sector peers and policy-makers joined us to celebrate our 10 year anniversary at our Summer Sawubona on Wednesday 24 May 2017.

The Sawubona, a Zulu word loosely translated to mean an invitation to take part in each other’s life, was an opportunity to thank our closest supporters for their contributions to our strategic vision and an invitation to join us on our journey following the launch of our new 3 year strategic plan. You can find this here.

At the reception, our CEO Dominique Airey and Chairman Mat Ilic, gave an overview of our new strategy and plans to scale and deepen our impact.

Guests were given name-badges printed on seeded paper which when planted would produce wildflowers: plants which play an important role in supporting healthy biodiversity. As Dominique pointed out, “this is symbolic of the role we seek to play in supporting healthier communities and (indeed our sector!) over the next 3 years.”

The presentation and the evening in general, struck a chord with many of our guests who pledged to partner with us for deeper impact. You can see some of these pledges on our Sawubona Video.
