With thanks to the National Lottery’s Awards for All, we will be running a Trauma and Resilience Training programme (TTP) for key adults working with vulnerable young people in Birmingham.
Over the next year we’re looking to support 60 professionals through our trauma-informed training, across Birmingham and the West Midlands. By the end of the training, youth workers, social workers, VSC members, and anyone responsible for the care of young people in their roles will have the skills and strategies to support young people in their care who have experience with trauma and adverse childhood experiences.
The training will provide:
- A deeper understanding of how trauma impacts those in their care
- Practical tools and techniques to manage the often difficult behaviour of those they work with
- Tools to understand their own potential for compassion fatigue and to retain their own level of wellbeing
Khulisa believes that in order for meaningful change to occur, we must approach trauma from a whole school and community perspective. Whilst the therapeutic support we offer young people is so important, so too is training adults to understand the challenges that these young people experience, and to consequently understand where their difficult behaviours stem from. To support sustainable change, we must also support these key adults.
Previous trauma training programmes for professionals have been hugely successful, with past participants stating:
“The course was fantastically led and so informative on the many aspects of trauma and how it can affect so many aspects of life. It gave us tools that we can use moving forward to help those around us that need it.” Pinner High School
“I found the training inspirational and interesting and all professionals working with children and young people should have this training.” Young Harrow/Ealing Foundations
We want to extend a huge thank you to the National Lottery and lottery players for funding this important programme.
We’re very excited to work with more organisations in Birmingham, who are focused on supporting young people in deprived areas. If you’d like to take advantage of this free training and support your teams make an enquiry below.
