Face It – Whole School Programme

Early Design and Innovation

Since 2011, Khulisa has worked with schools to deliver therapeutic wellbeing programmes for young people at risk of exclusion. However, we know from our own evidence and from a growing body of international evidence, that to create lasting change, we need to ensure all young people are cared for by adults who are trauma-informed, and systems that are responsive to their social and emotional needs. Following the evidence, we made a decision in 2018 to pilot a whole school approach to improving the social and emotional wellbeing of young people.

Khulisa’s 3-year Whole School Approach partnership involves supporting the school at every level to mitigate the impact of disadvantage and trauma. This means providing services for Senior Leadership Teams, School Professionals, Parents and Carers as well as Students themselves.

Our approach contains four core elements:

2024 -2027 Strategy

I can safely say that 38 boys have shown siginificant behavioural and academic improvment since participating on the course. - Deputy Headteacher, Rokeby School

Under our new strategy we are aiming to work with more schools, running deeper term-long programmes over 12 weeks. A full academic year of programming includes over 150 hours of direct support for 36 young people, 27 hours of direct support for up to 36 parents and carers and 12.5 hours of training for school staff.

Our therapuetic group progremmes increase pupil attendance and wellbeing, connect schools with parents and carers, and equip your staff to deliver high quality teaching for every student.
